The Cloudcast #179 - Managing Containers w/o a Tupperware Party

Krispy Kreme Donations 2015 - Huge Thank You!! - http://www.thecloudcast.net/2015/02/krispy-kreme-challenge-2015.html

Projects of the Week
s3motion” by Kenny Coleman - migration tool between S3 object services
FBOSS and “6-Pack” from Facebook
Promethius” - container monitoring from SoundCloud

Topic 1 - Lots going on with Containers these days. Let’s talk about the basics of Docker’s “batteries included but pluggable” vs. what CoreOS is proposing with Rocket and appc.

Topic 2 - We hear about managing containers at scale. The numbers can get big quickly. But what’s a logical point to have to look into a Mesos/Marathon or Kubernetes?

Topic 3 - Is there a big difference between these different container management frameworks?

Topic 3a - Any insight you can give us into the “Lattice” project from the Cloud Foundry Foundation?

Topic 4 - Will the container management frameworks get smart enough to where they don’t need something like Docker doing container-level “stuff” and they just manage cgroups or something closer to the container directly?

Topic 5 - VMware just released VIO for OpenStack. Can you image them creating a VID for Docker, or VIM for Mesos? Then they could manage native VMs, containers in VMs and native containers, in an Enterprise.

Topic 6 - What part of the container ecosystem is most interesting to you these days?
