The Cloudcast #129 - Cloud Chaos, HyperConvergence & Commoditization

Was thinking that the names Brian, Greg and Stu are going the way of the dinosaur, you don’t hear many kids with those names anymore.

Topic 1 - Let’s start by talking about disruption. Stu was at the Open Compute Project event this week. So is all hardware now completely commoditized?

Topic 2 - Cisco finally launched Whiptail this week and IBM sold their x86 business to Lenovo. How does that change the dynamics for both Storage companies and Server companies?

Topic 3 - In the Storage space, what do you see having the most impact or disruption - All Flash, HyperConvergence or Software-Defined?

Topic 4 - Where do you see all the vendor-specific Clouds (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, VMware) fitting into the Enterprise picture? Can you be an Enterprise vendor without your own Cloud offerings?

Topic 5 - Wikibon was very bullish on AWS after re:Invent; SpeakinginTech had a 2014 is Year of Private Cloud show. How are you going to measure your viewpoints this year?

Topic 6 - Microsoft apparently has a new CEO, Satya Nadella. He runs their Cloud and online business. Is he the right guy? What’s the right path forward for Microsoft?
